What the Boosters Do...
We are an organization dedicated to the support of the Valhalla High School football program, coaching
staff, and our players. The membership comprises all parents, guardians, and extended family of our VHS
Football players. Our primary focus is to assist the VHS Football Program in achieving success by
volunteering our time and talents in support of our student athletes.
We endeavor to aid in the success of the Program by developing player skills in athleticism, character
and good sportsmanship. VHS Football Boosters raise money from concessions sales, spirit wear, and
various other fundraising activities. During game weeks, we subsidize nutrition snacks and assist
in pasta parties for all players. We underwrite all costs for players and coaches at the annual banquets.
We pay for Senior Parent Night, which is a formal ceremony at the end of a selected home game
that recognizes player and parent contributions. The Boosters assist in funding participants who
cannot pay for the costs of their football experience. 100% of monies raised are applied to the
football program in support of our players.
The Boosters are an integral part of the VHS Football Program fundraising efforts during the year, and
assist in tracking the results of the efforts. We work with the coaching staff in distributing equipment
and spirit packs. The Boosters work closely with the Valhalla Foundation during annual audits and to
improve school facilities for the benefit of the entire community and all of its programs.
Suggestions for what Parents can do
The Boosters strive for the utmost in good sportsmanship, and feel that it is very important that all
our student athletes understand that every time they wear the Valhalla colors, they represent every one
of their fellow students. We also know that as parents it is very easy to become "caught up in the
game" when watching our children compete. Accordingly, this section contains some "helpful reminders"
which we hope will serve to keep the overall goal in sight: to improve our children's experience and
make them better athletes and citizens.
Before the Game
- Tell your child you are proud of him or her regardless of how well he or she plays.
- Make a commitment to honor the game no matter what others may do.
During the Game
- Cheer good plays by both teams
- Mention good calls by the officials to others
- Encourage others to honor the game
- Remember to have fun! Enjoy the day
After the Game
- Ask your child open-ended questions:
- "What was the most enjoyable part of the game for you? Least enjoyable?"
- "Do you feel you gave it your best effort?"
- "How did you respond to any mistakes you made?"
- "Did you bounce back?"
- "What did you learn form the game?"
- Tell your child again that you are proud of him or her! (Especially if the game didn't go well)
- Thank officials for doing a difficult job
- Thank the coaches for their effort
What If
- The official makes a "bad" call against your team? Respect and Honor the Game- be silent!
- Another spectator on your team begins to berate the official?
Ask them to Respect and Honor the Game, that officials are human and make mistakes.
- Your child does not get to play/ participate in the game?
Respect the coach’s decision and continue to demonstrate a positive attitude with your child towards the program.
